World Ping Pong Masters brings 24 of the world’s best ping pong players to battle for their share of a prize fund which stands at $102,000. The format is straight-knockout, matches are best of 5 from the Last 16 onwards and the popular Golden Buzzer Power Play returns!
The World Ping Pong Masters will be a straight-knockout event. Eight players will be seeded through to round one, with the remaining 16 players competing in the preliminary round.
Matches will be best-of-3 sets (first to 15 points) in the preliminary round and best-of-5 sets (first to 15 points) during the rest of the competition.
Double Point Ball: A player who holds serve can nominate to use the ‘Double Point Ball’ twice during their match (once during their match in the preliminary round). It can be called either on the first or second serve but can only be used up to or when a player has scored 12 points in that game. Should the server win the point using the ‘Double Point Ball’ they will score two points instead of one. If the server does not win the point the opponent still only scores 1 point.
